Smithsonian Reluctant to Allow Free WiFi on the Mall
The Washington Post (reg. req.) is reporting that the Smithsonian has tentatively rejected but is still considering a nonprofit's plan (Open Park Project) to make WiFi access free on the Mall by placing antennas on top of the Smithsonian's various museums (Smithsonian Reconsiders Web Access Plan on the Mall). I don't really see why the Smithsonian is so reluctant. WiFi access would seem to suit the mission of the institution quite well.
