Evolutionary Chilling Effects
CommonDreams.org that, once again, schools shy away from education for fear of antagonizing anti-evolutionists (Kids' Book on Evolution Stirs Censorship Debate in Monticello). The author of Our Family Tree: An Evolution Story was scheduled to talk about writing to a group of students, using the book as an example, but,
Monticello's assistant superintendent, Jim Johnson, said school officials made a reasonable request of Peters to talk about writing but leave the discussion about evolution to teachers. When she refused, the visit was scuttled.
You can only talk about writing and not the content of the book? And if kids asked, "sorry, I am not at liberty to discuss that." That's reasonable?
