Technology Review's IP Issue
Technology Review is full of all sorts of goodness this month. First, a series of essays on open culture and copyright from distinguished scholars Richard Epstein and Larry Lessig. There is an introduction by the editor (From the Editor), who is as optimistic about DRM as Epstein. There is another, more copyfight friendly, lead in by TR's staff and freelance writers (Who Should Own Ideas?). Lessig then has a lengthy discussion of the issues, though nothing particularly new if you've read a lot of Lessig (The People Own Ideas!). Epstein responds, and is mostly in agreement with Lessig's points, if not his style. However, Epstein is overly thrilled with DRM (The Creators Own Ideas). Finally, a brief rebuttal by Lessig that goes to the heart of the disagreements over DRM (Lessigs Rebuttal to Epstein). via Furdlog
