Podcasting a Threat to Audible.com
Forbes reports that Standard & Poor's Equity Research has reiterated a "sell" rating on Audible, the internet audiobook store (Podcasting 'A Growing Threat' To Audible).
S&P Equity Research noted that a number of media outlets have recently announced new and free podcasting offerings, "which we think will detract from interest in similar content from Audible that generally costs $6.95 to $12.95 a month per download."
It'll ultimately be a threat to more than Audible.

Don Katz, founder and CEO of Audible, seems to be very aware about podcasting and wants to integrate it somehow into Audible, according to a recent interview on Web Talk via IT Conversations Podcast. I think Audible will not lose a ton of business because a lot of their members, myself included, value them for their 10, 15, or 20+ hour audio books. While there is definitely some compelling content among podcasts out there, when it comes to really in-depth historical, political, etc. tomes, or fine literature, there's still nothing equivelent. I've written a bit more about Audible recently on my blog: http://twelveblackcodemonkeys.blog-city.com/read/1307527.htm
