Australian Federal Court Justice Rips Copyright Term Extension
Justice Ronald Sackville of the Federal Court of Australia, an "old-fashioned, even Luddite" judge, rips into extension of copyright for pre-existing works as well as other expansions of copyright law (Cultivating the Creative Commons).
Despite the [US] Supreme Courts ruling and the willingness of Australian negotiators to accept the position of the US, it is extremely difficult to understand the policy justification for a further extension of the term of copyright, let alone the application of the extension to subsisting copyright.
